There are a variety of telephone recorders on the market, from small tape recorders to multi line

Telephone Tape Recorders
Simple, easy to use. Record and playback calls from the tape recorder. Single line analog
recorders. No technical expertise required to install. Limited recording archive based on the

PC Integrated Telephone Recorders
This type of recorder is connected to a computer via the USB port on the PC. All recordings are
archived to the hard drive of the computer. These can be single line recorders, but there are
models that will record up to 4 telephone lines.
As the recorded telephone conversations are saved to the PC, the calls can be searched based
on designated criteria. Calls can be emailed via .wav or MP3 format. Some recorders allow for live
monitoring as well. An inexpensive method to record telephone calls, easy to install, and reliable.

Stand Alone Recorders
This type of recorder has a built-in hard drive for archiving recorded calls. Most models in this
category are more stable and reliable. When recording and capturing all incoming and outgoing
calls is important, stand alone recorders are chosen. PC-integrated recorders require the
computer to be active at all times, not in standby model to capture the recordings.
Most models are available starting with 4 ports (lines) and have the ability to scale to 100’s of
telephone lines. Features include large capacity databases, live monitoring, variety of search and
playback options, multiple recording inputs (telephones, 2-way radios), remote monitoring of calls,
network connectivity, holds thousands of hours of recordings and ability to archive all or selected
recordings to a DVD.
Most of this type of telephone recording equipment will require wiring and installations services.
